Celebrate movement, forge lasting friendships and make a meaningful contribution to your community by registering for the McGrath Wollongong Running Festival 2024 Volunteer Program.

Our volunteer team has a strong reputation as the happiest and most supportive volunteers in the region. They largely contribute to the atmosphere and participant enjoyment on the day. Our volunteers are key to the success of the event as they ensure it is a safe and fun day for all. 

There will be a suitable role for everyone on the day!

Volunteer roles & responsibilities

Whether you’re a running enthusiast or passionate about giving back to the community, we have a volunteer role for you.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Marshalling and course safety

  • Hydration station management and water distribution

  • Race bib distribution

  • Medal distribution

  • Participant guidance, support, and encouragement

  • Assistance with various event logistics

Volunteer skills & requirements

No prior volunteer experience is necessary, as guidance will be provided to ensure all volunteers feel confident and prepared for their roles on the day.

All you need to do is bring your tip-top personality and the right attitude to make the event great for everyone.

 Volunteer FAQs

  • Volunteers will need to be available on Sunday 2 June 2024 to help the event run smoothly. Shifts and roles will be allocated depending on your skills and what is required on the day.

  • Volunteers will need to be available between 6am-11am on Sunday 2 June. Specific shift times and lengths will be allocated closer to the event date.

  • No prior experience is necessary, as clear guidance will be provided to ensure all volunteers feel confident and prepared for their roles.

  • Volunteer information and resources will be sent out to all volunteers in May. We will make sure you have everything you need to have fun and feel supported on the day.

  • In addition to the satisfaction of making a meaningful contribution to the community, volunteers will receive a special edition cap, as well as food and beverage during their shift.

  • Yes! Let us know if you have friends that you would like to be stationed with on the day. Whilst we will do our best to keep you together, we can not guarantee that you will be with all your buddies.

  • Yes. All volunteers must be above the age of 16.
